Living flavour: making natural kvass with your own hands

Kvass refreshes and quenches thirst on hot summer days like no other drink. Its unique sweet and sour flavour and natural composition make it popular among people of all ages. Homemade kvass is especially appreciated, which not only surpasses its store-bought counterparts in taste, but also brings more benefits to the body.

Why is kvass so good?

Kvass is rich in beneficial substances such as B vitamins, amino acids and enzymes, which help to improve digestion and strengthen the immune system. Natural kvass contains probiotics, which are essential for a healthy intestinal flora. This drink helps to restore energy, improves metabolism and gives vigour. Unlike many store-bought drinks, homemade kvass does not contain preservatives and artificial additives.

Homemade or store-bought?

Homemade kvass is not comparable to store-bought kvass for several reasons. Firstly, you control the composition of ingredients and the absence of harmful additives. Secondly, home-made kvass has a more intense and rich flavour, which is difficult to find in bought drinks. Finally, making kvass at home is a fun activity that can become a great family ritual. Kaufbei TV’s kvass making kits can help you make kvass at home.

Kvass making kits

A set of kvass making kits includes three types of mixes, each of which is designed for 3 litres of ready drink. The set includes:

Kvas Kupecky dark malt beverage mix, 110 g

The set is prepared from a specially selected malt mixture with the addition of fermented rye malt, which gives the drink a dark colour and a pronounced rye flavour. Special yeast adds a subtle honey flavour to the kvass. The drink perfectly quenches thirst and has a revitalising effect. The composition includes dry kvass, light barley malt, fermented rye malt, peppermint leaf and yeast.

Kvas Kupechesky light malt drink mix, 110 g

This blend consists of a series of specially selected malts that give kvass its classic sweet and sour flavour. Special yeast is added to the mixture, which also gives the drink a subtle honey flavour. The composition includes dry kvass, light barley malt, fermented rye malt, peppermint leaf and yeast.

Kvass okroshechny malt drink mix with horseradish, light, 110

The mixture is prepared from specially selected varieties of malt, to which dried horseradish is added. It gives the drink a special flavour, which is ideal for making okroshka. The composition includes dry kvass, light barley malt, horseradish root and yeast.

Kvass with your own hands

To prepare homemade kvass, pour the contents of the main package into a three-litre jar. Then add filtered or cooled boiled water, the temperature of which should not exceed 30 ºC. Then add five tablespoons of sugar and the yeast from the packet provided. Put the jar in a warm place for 24 hours to start the fermentation process. After this time, strain the kvass, add 5-10 sultanas or one teaspoon of sugar and pour the drink into bottles with tightly closing lids. Place the bottles in a warm place for another 24 hours to allow them to inflate slightly. After that, leave the kvass to cool and store it in the fridge.
