Activated carbon tablets
What are activated carbon tablets made of?
Activated carbon is a form of carbon that is extremely porous. It has a sponge-like structure and can break down into tiny particles, giving it a large surface area. The remarkable property of activated carbon is its ability to adsorb. This means that the carbon particles are able to bind other substances such as toxins, chemicals and even odor molecules to its surface, just like activated charcoal tablets. Medicinal activated carbon or activated carbon tablets are mainly made from plant materials such as peat, tree bark or nutshells.
Relieve gastrointestinal discomfort with activated charcoal tablets
Activated charcoal tablets are known for their therapeutic use in gastrointestinal tract disorders. They are especially used for ailments such as gastroenteritis (stomach flu) or food poisoning.
However, the use of activated charcoal tablets can also provide relief for less serious problems that occasionally occur during travel or after sumptuous meals. These include symptoms such as bloating, flatulence, diarrhea and vomiting.
It is important to note that activated charcoal tablets should not be taken for diarrhea associated with fever.
How to use activated charcoal tablets
To ensure the optimal effect of activated charcoal tablets, it is crucial to drink enough fluids. Drinking plenty of fluids allows the carbon to decompose optimally and develop its full effect. The activated carbon tablets can either be swallowed or dissolved in a glass of water beforehand.
